Safety Shield is the result of many years of development - receiving US and International patents in 2012.

The Intertek/Edison Testing Lab (ETL) has issued approval markings for testing to UL Standards UL1046/ULC-S649 and UL710 for use in commercial kitchen exhaust systems. Proof of testing to these standards allow Safety Shield to be compliant within the NFPA 96 code.

The filters have also been ETL approved to NSF Standard #2 / ANSI 51. This approval specifies that the filters are safe for operation within the kitchen environment.
